Aid to the Church in Need's New Website: Meeting the Needs of Catholics Across the US
Brooklyn, New York (PRWEB) October 20, 2008 -- To meet the needs of faithful across the United States, Aid to the Church in Need, a Catholic organization under the guidance of the Holy Father, launched a new website on October 15th. Aid to the Church in Need (ACN)'s mission is to serve the pastoral needs of the suffering Church around the world and to help keep the Faith alive.
A Powerful and Prayerful Environment
"It is our hope that our new website will offer committed faithful and the general public a powerful and prayerful environment in which people may learn about the persecuted and suffering Church, support projects in need, and find spiritual solace," said Father Hugh Barbour, O. Praem, Spiritual Director.
A Rich Array of Information On the Suffering Church Worldwide
The site, www.churchinneed.org, offers visitors the opportunity to view pastoral projects urgently in need of funding, and to visit a virtual Prayer Chapel, where they may submit prayer intentions, make Mass Offerings for loved ones, or request Mass Cards or Prayer Cards. Churchinneed.org offers visitors a rich array of information regarding the suffering Church worldwide: ACN News, which updates visitors on the plight of persecuted Christians; success stories of completed projects; and ACN Documentaries that tell story of the persecuted in different regions of the world, (available to order in DVD format). Said Fr. Barbour, "Above all, it is our hope that our ACN family of faithful will have the opportunity to stand in solidarity and support of our suffering brothers and sisters around the world, and, by sharing God's love, help to keep the Faith alive."
About ACN:
Aid to the Church in Need was founded in 1947 by Father Werenfried van Straaten after he witnessed firsthand the ravages of war. The young Norbertine priest had a mission -- to shed light on the suffering and persecuted of the world. For his lifelong commitment to the most vulnerable of God's people, Father Werenfried was named an Outstanding Apostle of Charity by John Paul II. Now, more than 60 years later, ACN's family of faithful continue to fulfill Fr. Werenfried's mission.
Each year, under the guidance of the Holy Father and with the support of ACN's benefactors, Aid to the Church in Need supports more than 5,000 projects in 145 countries across the globe. Our eight key programs are: Support of Formations, Distribution of Spiritual Literature, Construction of Churches, Transportation for Religious, Aid to Refugees, Care for Elderly Religious, Mass Offerings for Poor Priests, and Media Outreach.
